Elm

"Elms were once rare in Britain. But after they became popular in gardens, craftsmen quickly took to them too."

"The only problem is that elms do not often grow in long straight single sections. So it is hard to find long single pieces of elm to make things like planks or beams."

Did you know?

Many elms were destroyed by disease a few years ago, but some of the oldest have survived for more than 200 years - and they are still growing.
