A bit about your wonder

This lemon squeezer comes from an old Victorian kitchen, like the one pictured across the page.

A cook would squeeze the bitter lemon juice into a bowl, sieving out the pips.

The bad news is that unlike some woods, beech won't alter the taste one bit!

"So you decided to make a lemon squeezer, eh?"

"I'm impressed - beech is hard enough but naturally very elastic (bendy). That means the hinges won't snap when you squeeze a large lemon."
