Royal Pump Rooms
In Victorian times, two swimming pools and a Turkish Bath were added to the building to encourage more people to go there.
The Royal Pump Rooms opened in 1814. Visitors and patients went there to drink and bathe in the famous spa water. Spa waters were said to cure all sorts of illnesses, even though the waters tasted absolutely horrible!
