Show the children the photograph of Irene with the toy that her father made for her. You'll find this in the 'Toys and Games' section at the bottom of the left-hand navigation buttons.

Use the template provided to make a jumping jack toy. There are two versions of this toy.  The toy can be constructed with split pins and then taped to a long straw or turned into a puppet using string and pieces of wood.
