The publication of the
First Folio in 1623 marked Macbeth's first ever
appearance in print.
When Shakespeare first wrote
his plays, he wrote for the actors in his company - not
for publication.
The manuscripts therefore belonged to the company, rather
than to Shakespeare himself. So it was members of his own
company, the King's Men, who published the First Folio in
1623.
