Meet a real Jurassic sea dragon!
Ichthyosaurs like this
were about 2 metres long and could dive to champion depths.
The bottom picture shows
how they were built to stand the force of very deep water - you
can see the circle of bony reinforcements around its eye socket.
Its strong spine (middle) would
have helped too. But despite its fearsome swimming skills, a live
Ichthyosaur probably looked more like a dolphin than
a dragon!
The pictures feature an Ichthyosaur
found at Wilmcote.
