The Victorians loved Mary Ann's stories.

They are about real people doing real jobs - or at least women who wished they could! Soon everyone was reading them. When Mary Ann died in 1880, hundreds of people came to say a last goodbye at her funeral.

Mary Ann still lives on in her stories,
and even has her own statue in Nuneaton.

Wouldn't you agree that
Mary Ann made it in the end?
