On 3 July 1858, a royal party including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert arrived at the Castle, where they were entertained at dinner and in the grounds. The picture on the left shows the party arriving. Victoria's carriage is at the foot of the Great Hall steps. On the right is the dinner which took place in the State Dining Room.
