Daisy now played host to parties of a different kind. She welcomed labour leaders to her home, and campaigned ceaselessly for years. She even stood for election in Leamington Spa during the 1920s.

Her expensive wardrobe lit up the most earnest of political meetings. Glamorous to the last, she died in 1939, for ever a countess of dazzling controversy and contradictions.
